Doreen Warren has been Superintendent of Harlem School District #12 since August 2017.
Ms. Warren has a wealth of experience in public education both as a teacher and as a district administrator.
Before being named as Superintendent, she served as the Elementary Assistant Principal for four years. Previously, she was the Science Department Chairperson at Paul Robeson High School in Chicago, IL. She taught Biology, Chemistry, and Genetics to 9th through 12th graders.
Ms. Warren hold a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in political science (Loyola University Chicago). She conducted genetics research in Drosophila melanogaster DNA before continuing on to earn a master’s degree in education (St. Xavier University Chicago). She went on to complete the courses for a doctorate in educational leadership at Montana State University Bozeman. Her dissertation is in progress. Lastly, she is close to completion on a certificate in Native American Studies.
Ms. Warren’s eldest son serves as a pastor in Chattanooga, TN and her second son lives off the grid in Alaska and works as an adventure guide.
